In Memory

So many happy memories of wonderful souls that touched our hearts. We love and miss you! Thank you for being a part of our lives...

Max

A tribute to Max (fondly known as Big Boy, Maximus, Maxy, and Maxwell) who died suddenly. We had searched for months for a companion for our dog, Goldie. Most of our dog meets took place at The Animal Orphanage. One day a staff member asked me to come in and see a dog who they knew was not quite what I was looking for, but who they thought would be a good match for Goldie. When I met my sweet Max, he was heartbroken, his master having died and left him alone. He had been at the Orphanage for over 3 months without any prospects for adoption. I will admit that I was put off by the big, black lab/pit-bull mix weighing in at 80 pounds. But when he was brought out to meet Goldie, Max not only proceeded to charm Goldie (who had rejected at least 8 other dogs), he came over, leaned against my leg and laid his head on my lap, and well, at that point he was ours. Max took a place in our hearts that was only rivaled by his "small horse" size. He was a gentle giant who cringed at the thought of setting foot on wet grass or going out in the rain, loved walks in the park, sneaking naps on our bed and nuzzling with Goldie. Maxwell filled our home with his love. His presence we all miss. If your considering adopting a dog, please walk a little more slowly past the cage that contains the big black dog, don't be put off by the big bark and big size, invite him out for a meet, you won’t regret it. We didn't.

Timber

It is with sadness that we write about the passing of our dearly beloved pet Timber. Timber was adopted on June 10, 2004 and spent nearly three full years with us. Timber came to us as a young, active puppy. We did not know what to expect. He was our first and only dog. He loved all of the neighborhood kids and loved all people he ever met. Even people who were deathly afraid of dogs loved Timber. He was the kindest, most loving animal we have ever seen and he found his home here with us. He loved the yard and his neighborhood and all of his other dog friends. He enjoyed his nieces and nephews, our family and friends, and will be missed by so many. He loved going on vacation with us and got us through some hard times over the past three years. On Tuesday, May 29th we learned he had advanced lymphoblastic leukemia. It broke our hearts when May 31st Timber passed away at home. He was too young and it was too soon for us, but he made so many others happy. Thank you for all that you do.

Herman

Herman was a wonderful boy who we are already missing very much.  He passed away of a heart ailment at his older age.  He was usually sleeping in the shelter but once he knew it was time for a short walk, he would light up, smile and his tail would wag non-stop.  We think he knew his time was up so we pray that he is at peace.  Rest in Peace, Herman

Dempsey

Dempsey was a loving soul who passed away on 4/21/06 due to kidney and liver failure. He was a kind and gentle dog who was in the process of being adopted. Please keep Dempsey's memory alive by making a donation in his name. In the short time that he was with us we loved him dearly!! He was hospitalized for a day prior to his passing.

Harvey

Our handsome boy lost his fight with cancer this morning and is now over the rainbow bridge. For the short time that he was here, Harvey was loved by the volunteers and the staff. He was found abandoned at our front gate on Easter morning. Please help us to pay for his vet bills by making a donation in his name! Thank you for your kindness and generosity.

Buddy

Buddy was the best friend anybody could ask for. He was loved by all who met him. Buddy was hit and killed in a car accident. Words cannot describe how much he will be missed. May you play to your heart's content, my friend, over the rainbow bridge.

Keeto

Keeto you were a true gentleman. We loved to watch you play in the yards, interact with people and socialize with the other orphans. Your adoptive family planned to take you home for the holidays but you left us unexpectedly. We are very sad you are gone but you will be forever in our hearts. Rest in peace Keeto.
